August 2009: Buffalo Community Center - Buffalo, Minnesota USA.

Geometrik Studio was recently contracted by Short Elliott Hendrickson to prepare a series of renderings for the architects and designers at the firm's Minneapolis office.

The proposed design by SEH Architectural Services, prepared for the City of Buffalo, Minnesota, includes the renovation of an existing historical community building, a new community center addition, a new fire station with training facilities & support spaces, and a new public swimming pool facility with indoor waterslide and solar hot water technology. The prospective design demonstrates the designers' desire to impart a sense of historical continuity between the existing structure and the more contemporary addition, with brick accents that reference the brick detailing of the senior building.

SEH was interested in presenting its design to the City of Buffalo in a visual format that would appeal to the city's residents on an emotional level, and generate enthusiasm & support for the project.

Geometrik Studio responded to SEH's request by designing the scene lighting and overall tonal quality of the renderings to impart an atmosphere of warmth and tranquility - a pleasant afternoon in late summer. Scenic elements were selected and composed to reinforce themes of renewal and rejuvenation. Children playing exuberantly in the foreground evoke a sense of vitality and youthfulness. The new landscape design by SEH enlivens the plaza in front of the historical building with flowers and young trees, and is visually juxtaposed against the mature oaks in the foreground as a subtle expression of connection between the old and the new, and of growth and development.

In addition to the daytime renderings, nighttime versions of each rendering were also produced, and are intended to portray the facility as a vibrant hub of activity.
